OUR STORY

The Patriot Cigar Company’s story started with the idea of incorporating the love of cigars with the love for freedom and America. There is no better way to celebrate our love for our country and freedoms we cherish, than smoking a premium cigar.

After months of trying out different blends and working with master blenders, we arrived at some of the best blends we have ever smoked. We knew we had to bring these premium handmade cigars to the industry and share them with other freedom loving patriots!

How to Properly Light a Cigar with a Torch Lighter. Lighting a cigar with a torch lighter ensures an even burn, preserving flavor. Use a butane torch (single, double, or triple flame) for precision and wind resistance. Avoid soft-flame matches or lighters, which can impart unwanted tastes. MaterialsFresh cigar (stored properly at 65–70% RH) Sharp cigar cutter Butane torch lighter (filled, purged of air) Cedar spill (optional for toasting) Step-by-Step ProcessPrepare the Cigar (30 seconds) Inspect for cracks. Cut the cap cleanly 1/16–1/8 inch above the shoulder using a guillotine or V-cutter for a flat draw. Test cold draw—air should flow like a milkshake straw. Toast the Foot (10–15 seconds) Hold the cigar at a 45° angle, foot (open end) facing down. Keep the torch flame 1–2 inches below the foot—never touch the tobacco. Rotate slowly to warm the outer rim evenly. Look for a faint orange glow and thin smoke wisps. This pre-heats without charring. Ignite the Core (15–20 seconds) Bring the cigar to your lips. Puff gently (2–3 second draws) while continuing to rotate. Direct the blue flame’s hottest part (tip) just inside the foot’s edge. The cherry should glow red-orange evenly across the surface. Puff, don’t inhale—exhale through the cigar to check burn. Inspect and Refine (10 seconds) Hold the cigar horizontal. Blow gently on the foot; it should glow uniformly. If uneven, re-toast dark spots with quick torch passes while puffing. Avoid over-puffing to prevent overheating. Purge and Rest (5 seconds) Blow through the cigar once to clear harsh gases. Let it rest 10–15 seconds before smoking. TipsPurge torch before use: Ignite away from cigar, burn off impurities. Distance matters: Too close scorches; too far delays ignition. Windy conditions: Cup hand or use triple-flame torch. Time: Full lighting takes ~45–60 seconds for a robusto. A properly lit cigar burns evenly, tastes smooth, and lasts 45–90 minutes.
